Space for traffic and the Dommel river, municipalities, nature, and farmers with the N69 Border Corridor

A beautiful solution after 40 years of discussion about heavy traffic in North Brabant, respecting the Dommel river valley and the surrounding municipalities, nature reserves, and agricultural businesses.

On behalf of the province of North Brabant Marc Wesselink facilitated spatial project south of Eindhoven. For over 40 years, the national government, province, and municipalities struggled with the question of how to reduce the heavy traffic load on the village centers of Valkenswaard and Waalre-Aalst. In a multi-stakeholder approach involving 25 parties, work was done on an alternative route outside the built-up areas of both municipalities, but with respect for the Dommel stream valley and the interests of the surrounding municipalities, nature reserves, and agricultural businesses. The outcome of the process has been adopted by the Provincial Executive and the Provincial Council of the province of Brabant and is currently being realized.
